Wendy Lilje: Bloublommetjieskloof Farm
Bloublommetjieskloof Farm, located on Olyvenbosch Road in Wellington, South Africa, is a pioneering biodynamic farm with over 35 years of history. Founded by Jeanne Malherbe, a trailblazer in natural farming, the farm is now owned and operated by Wendy Lilje and her son, Ishaan. Certified by Demeter, the farm undergoes annual inspections to maintain its organic and biodynamic status.
A History of Innovation
In the late 1960s, Jeanne Malherbe transitioned the farm to organic and biodynamic methods, despite widespread skepticism. Her dedication brought attention to natural farming, with the farm’s produce gaining popularity at the Rondebosch market in Cape Town. Today, Bloublommetjieskloof continues this legacy as a certified biodynamic operation.
